Saturday’s UEFA Nations League match between Switzerland and Spain at St. Jakob-Park in Basel was a historic occasion for captain Sergio Ramos for more than one reason.
Ramos, a mainstay in the Spanish team, made his 177th international appearance at the senior level, passing legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to become the most capped European men’s player in history.
